As a State & Local Government Account Executive at Atlassian, you will play a critical role in developing and growing relationships with states, counties, and municipalities, helping them leverage Atlassian's tools to meet their agency and operational goals. You will be responsible for building trust, driving adoption, and expanding the use of Atlassian products across departments, from state agencies to county divisions and everything in between. You’ll work strategically with both existing clients and prospects, managing your accounts through every stage of the sales cycle—from initial outreach to closing the deal and nurturing long-term partnerships. You will also be instrumental in guiding customers through the successful implementation of Atlassian products, ensuring they realize maximum value and ROI.
As a key member of the sales team, you will work closely with cross-functional teams, including Solutions Engineers, Customer Success, and Channel Partners, to support your customers’ needs. You will engage with stakeholders at all levels, from state c-suite to county administrators, and advocate for how Atlassian’s solutions can help transform their agency and operational workflows.

You will report directly to the Director of SLED Sales.
Your Background:
8+ years of experience in enterprise sales, with a focus on the state/local government market
Proven track record of selling software solutions to states, counties, and municipalities
Strong relationships with government decision-makers, including CIO’s, CTO’s, IT directors, and division heads
Expertise in state/local government procurement processes and familiarity with their budgets and funding sources
Experience in customer-first SaaS organizations and a passion for helping agencies achieve their strategic goals through technology
Consultative, relationship-driven sales approach—you excel at understanding the unique needs of state/local government agencies and tailoring solutions to fit
Experience with CRM and pipeline management tools (Salesforce, Slack, G-Suite, etc.) and the ability to analyze and report on sales performance
Cross-functional collaboration: You thrive working with diverse teams across the organization to deliver comprehensive solutions for your customers
Ability to advise agency C-level and senior stakeholders on how to optimize operations and improve outcomes through Atlassian products
It Would Be Great If You Also Had:
Experience transitioning state & local government agencies from legacy on-premise software solutions to cloud-based, SaaS platforms
An entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to drive new initiatives and processes in a rapidly evolving market
Familiarity with Atlassian's product suite and how it can be applied to government environments, including project management, collaboration, and IT service management solutions
A background in selling collaboration tools or solutions designed for state & local government agencies
Compensation:
At Atlassian, we strive to design equitable, explainable, and competitive compensation programs. To support this goal, the baseline of our range is higher than that of the typical market range, but in turn we expect to hire most candidates near this baseline. Base pay within the range is ultimately determined by a candidate's skills, expertise, or experience. In the United States, we have three geographic pay zones. For this role, our current base pay ranges for new hires in each zone are:
Zone A: $184,000 - $220,000
Zone B: $165,600 - $198,700
Zone C: $152,700 - $183,300
This role may also be eligible for benefits, bonuses, commissions, and equity.
