What is a Confluence page?
A Confluence page is the default content type for structured, long-lived information, like documentation, project plans, or meeting notes. Pages live in a hierarchical tree within a space, so your team can organize related content and find it again later.

- Go to the space where you want the new page to live. You can move it to a different space later if needed.
- Click the blue Create button at the top of the nav, and select Page.
- Browse and select a template from the right nav if you want a head start, or start from a blank page.
- Add at least a title, then add body text, tables, and images if you are ready.
- Add labels to make it searchable in Confluence; anyone can filter search results by label later.
- Select the Publish button in the top-right corner, or select the three dots for more options.

- Select the lock icon in the top-right corner to customize viewer access and permissions, then select Apply.
- When you are ready, select the Publish button.

A page fits into a space's page tree and is meant to stay current as a reference. A blog post is dated and streams chronologically, which suits one-time updates you do not plan to revisit.
Do I need to use a template to create a page?
No. You can start from a blank page and add your own text, tables, and images, or choose one of Confluence's 100+ templates for a head start.
Where do unpublished pages go before I publish them?
A new page stays as a draft until you publish it. Drafts do not appear in activity feeds or search results, so you can write without an audience until you are ready.
