Tutorial: Using Confluence Cloud and Loom together

Using Confluence with Loom helps teams create videos to complement written content or provides an alternative way to consume information.

Asking questions, providing feedback, or supplying quick answers has never been easier.

Recording and embedding Loom videos is a quick and easy way to enhance collaboration on your Confluence page. It allows you to articulate your ideas and provide contextual responses with a human touch.

Whether you opt for a walkthrough with screensharing or choose to go on camera to share high-level thoughts, Loom videos serve to enrich existing content by providing additional clarity with valuable feedback to your team in a more personable than text.

Recording a Loom within Confluence

There are different ways you can record a Loom within Confluence.

In space: 

  •  Go to your main navigation
  • Select Create
  • Click on Loom video
  • Click on Start Recording to record your Loom video
  • Click on Insert video

On a page or a blog: 

  • Navigate to the Confluence page
  • Choose how you want to record your Loom video:
    • Page header
    • Editor Toolbar
    • Inline Command by typing /loom
  • Click on the Loom icon, or if prompted, click on Record a Loom video
  • Click on Start Recording to record your Loom video
  • Click on Insert video

 

On a Whiteboard: 

  • Navigate to the Whiteboard
  • Click on the Loom icon located on the toolbar in the upper right corner.
  • Click on Start Recording to record your Loom video
  • Click on Insert video

Pro Tip

Instead of text comments, you can create a Loom video and include it as an inline comment or a page comment. Simply highlight the text you want to leave a comment on or navigate to the page comment section and click on the Loom icon.

Setting up AI-powered meeting notes

To setup automated meeting notes, follow these steps:

  • Navigate to your meeting settings 
  • Connect your calendar
  • Set up Auto-recording rules or select the meetings you’d like to record
  • Toggle Generate meeting notes in Confluence to On

Accessing AI-powered meeting notes in Confluence

After the meeting, Loom will automatically add the meeting notes and action items to a Confluence page shared with invitees, along with a link to the meeting recording. Meeting invitees will also receive automatic recap emails, including links to the recording and meeting notes page in Confluence. This page includes the chaptered and timestamped meeting recap, links shared in the chat during the meeting, assigned action items, and a link to the meeting recording. Recurring meetings get a dedicated folder and parent page, so you can keep track of ongoing discussions and action items efficiently.
